Portrait Photography, 2011 - present

Studies in Closeness is a series of intimate portraits that explore what can be found by moving closer rather than farther away. Where my paintings use space to create distance, these photographs remove it, focusing instead on expression, texture, and the quiet presence of a single face. I'm interested in the moments when a portrait stops feeling like a likeness and begins to reveal something less tangible. By stripping away distraction and narrowing the frame, the photographs invite a slower kind of looking—one that lingers on the subtle details that shape how we see one another.
